How to search

The following are ways you can search for hostels at myhostelKenya

Before you embark on any searching, it would be very useful if you could specify the institution

• Method 1

  This is a normal way where you can enter text on the search bar and get results. The words you could use here are the premises' names (if you know it what you are looking for), the school/college/university or its location e.g. Eldoret. This may or may not return relevant results for you mainly if you have specified a school

• Method 2

  Here you could use a more smart search by specifying either the institution, number of rooms (bedrooms) you are looking for, the location of the premises, your price range.

  Institution

  This is similar to specifying the school but your school may not be listed
  Try this institution:kisii
  This will include all the campuses. Words that can be used in place of institution are "UNIVERSITY", "CAMPUS", "SCHOOL", "COLLEGE", "VARSITY", "AT".
  The are not case sensitive though. Try it

  Number of rooms

  How many bedrooms are you looking for? Is it just a single room, a bedsitter, one-bedroom or two-bedroom? You can specify now.

  Bedsitters

  Try bedroom:bedsitterThis will return relevant premises with the number of bedsitters available in a descending order
  You can replace 'bedsitter' with 'BS'. Try it

  Single rooms

  Try bedroom:single This will return relevant premises with the number of single rooms available in a descending order
  You can replace 'single' with 'SINGLE ROOM'. Try it

  One bedroom rooms

  Try bedroom:one This will return relevant premises with the number of one bedroom rooms available in a descending order
  You can replace 'one' with '1'. Try it

  Two bedroom rooms

  Try bedroom:two This will return relevant premises with the number of two bedroom rooms available in a descending order
  You can replace 'two' with '2'. Try it

  Location

  Try this in:Eldoret
  This will include all the institutions. Words that can be used in place of institution are "PLACE", "WHERE", "LOCATED" The are not case sensitive. Try it

  Price range

  It comes with two options. There is one option to search for the hostels and one for a price below. First, try this price:2000-6000 This will return premises whose price range you wish. i.e. All with prices between 2000 and 6000 if the price on one of the rooms is above that, it does not qualify. Try it
  Second, you could try below:5000 This will return premises that do not exceed that price for any of their rooms. Try it
  Words that can be used in place of 'PRICE' are "RENT", "MONTHLY" The are not case sensitive.
